Much Here Has Been Done
Artis Curatorial Residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Program
ISCP, NY, September-October 2022
In 1925 Patrick Geddes presented his Town-Planning Report for Jaffa and Tel-Aviv. He proposed a Garden City on the Mediterranean coast, an ideal mix of rural and urban areas, orchards and commercial strips, that fitted the Zionist program and advanced in an idealization of Tel-Aviv. While his plan is only visible today on the street layout in the Old North, his vision indicates an appreciation of the city, as a material, performative, and ecological complex, that connects with contemporary artistic practices and social and political imaginaries of what it means to live together, in a city.
The result of this project will appear soon on the website of Artis.
