Love the Daily Work: Merce Cunningham’s video works 1965-2009

Curated by Xavier Acarín and Trevor Carlson

LOOP Barcelona and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation join the Centennial Celebrations of Merce Cunningham.

Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion 12-25, November, 2018

The exhibition features a selection of video works that Merce Cunningham made over forty years, developed in collaboration with artists such as John Cage, David Tudor, Robert Rauschenberg and Charles Atlas. Among the films presented is Assemblage, a recently re-discovered piece shot in 1968 in San Francisco. The exhibition includes some Cunningham classics like Merce by Merce by Paik, Westbeth and Channels/Inserts. The video work of Cunningham is at the same time an expansion of his practice and a research into the medium which allow him to develop his choreographic work.

Music performance by BCN216 on Saturday 17, 6.30pm
